Highlight of Clippers-Suns Game

The best part of the ridiculous 40 point blowout came during halftime when they showed a clip of the Step Brothers spoof Baron Davis and Steve Nash made for Baron BoomDizzle's site, IBeatYou. Look at Steve's moves! Shaq's not the only one with some skills. Two words: Dance off.

Jay, if you don't know who the JabbaWockeeZ are, I'm shaving your head to reflect the old man you've become. I love PTI and Tony Kornheiser, but damn, sometimes the age/generation/technology/pop culture gap is ridiculous. Today he and Dan Le Batard talked about Twitter and Tony went off on the "twitter machine." It's called a computer. And I loved when he finally discovered Amy Winehouse...a year after Rehab blew up. I know ESPN wants to skew young, but forcing people to talk about topics they have absolutely no understanding of - I thought that's what they kept Skip Bayless around for.

Shaq to Phoenix in Hopes of Becoming One

Well, if anyone can do it, Shaq can. If anyone can help him do it, Nash can.

Still, I'm as surprised as anyone by this trade, in part because I didn't think the Suns would actually let Shawn Marion go. He's their workhorse, albeit a disgruntled one. Nonetheless, he does all the dirty work. I voted for him and Steve Nash for the All Star Game from the Suns. I can understand Shawn's frustration though. He wants to be an All Star and get some individual credit, even if it means giving up the chance to play with Nash and going to a crappy team. It worked for Joe Johnson. I don't agree with it, but I understand. I also hate that the Joe Johnson route worked, that he is an All Star for the second time as a Hawk. My best friend lives in Atlanta and used to go to school with Josh Childress, and she still wouldn't be able to name the NBA team that plays there even if I gave her 2 choices. Maybe if we followed the Jeff Van Gundy plan - not let any player from a sub-.500 team on the All Star teams - this desire to abandon a non-sinking ship for a sinking one wouldn't be as intense. Then again, considering the egos, maybe not.

I hope Shaq and the Suns work out. He's had enough personal, physical and occupational turmoil for the year. With Pau-pow to the Lakers and Shaq to the Suns, I hope the Mavs and San Antone have something up their sleeves. Considering the ignominious end to the NFL season, it'll be interesting to see how the second half of the NBA season plays out. Get your popcorn ready. Ugh. I can't believe T.O. has entered my lexicon. SportsCenter has destroyed my mind.

The Allure of Steve Nash

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Sam Dalembert became a Canadian citizen today, thus allowing him to join the Canadian national team. The coach of the Canadians, Leo Rautins, was once a Sixer himself. At Sam's introduction, he said,

"Sam is a humble but driven individual, that has stepped up to lead the charge of helping Canada assume its place among the best in the world."

Beware o' Canada. Tempting people away with their free health care and higher standard of living and superior point guard! (No offense, JKidd.) Who do they think they are!

NBA Parent Rank

While I look for my NBA Rookies tape, I thought I'd make a fun little NBA Parent ranking. These are just some people who've impressed, amused, or inspired me. I think they serve as a good counter-model to Hollywood/sports parents who, because of their child's earning potential, forget the role they're supposed to play. The parents listed here are also probably the closest to my Mom, who wasn't afraid to kick a little ass (both literally and figuratively) when need be.

I may revisit this list for future posts before the season starts. 84 days and counting...
